Need Thanksgiving Day Plans? Check Out These Dayton Area Events and More

For some, Thanksgiving can be a great time to spend inside with friends and family for the day. It can also be a great time to get out of the house and out on the town, and these great events happening that Thursday can keep you occupied on Turkey Day.

Run / Walk in the ORRRC Turkey Trot

This annual Turkey Trot in Miamisburg is always an area highlight on Thanksgiving. There are a few options for races this year, including an in-person 5-Mile Run/Walk, or the less strenuous  1-Mile Fun Run/Walk. There will also be a virtual option for those wanting to participate from home.

Catch a Drive-In Movie at Melody 49

Want to spend your Thanksgiving evening at the movies? Check out Melody 49 Drive-In in Brookville for back-to-back showings of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and some family favorite Christmas movies on their second screen.

Watch the Macy’s Parade and a NFL Game (or 3)

Thanksgiving Day is one of the best days for television watching. Tune in early in the morning for the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and spend the rest of the day watching NFL matchups between the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions at 12:30 p.m. ET, the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys at 4:30 p.m. ET, and finally the New England Patriots and Minnesota Vikings at 8:20 p.m. ET to wrap up the night.

Volunteer

Plenty of community organizations and places of worship put on free meals on Thanksgiving Day across the Miami Valley. Reach out and see which ones may need an extra set of hands to put on their feast.
