The Bicycle Ministry in Brookville Will Restore Your Faith In Humanity

Dave Nugent has a knack for fixing bikes, and he’s turned that skill into a way to bless others during the holidays.

For the last five years Dave has been fixing old bikes and giving them to kids for free. I’m not talking about a couple of bikes either . . . Dave has actually lost track of how many bikes he’s fixed and given to kids over the years. He told WDTN that he quit counting this year, but last year he gave away more than 3,000!

Let that soak in for a moment while you check out his Facebook page. 3,000 bikes last year, and according to Dave he will be doing more than that this year.

I think the most amazing part of all of this is that even though Dave is the one doing all of the work, he’s the one getting the most joy out of this. Over the years Dave has grown his Bicycle Ministry, but this year is shaping up to be the biggest yet.

According to his FB page, he has free toys, and free refurbished bikes, but there is a lot more. Dave is also doing a drawing for some new bikes, and five kids will also win $100 each!

I don’t know about you, but I’m absolutely blown away by Dave’s generosity. The amount of time he must put into fixing the bikes has to be exhausting, and then to step it up with new bikes and cash prizes?! The man is a real life Santa!

The big giveaway is happening Saturday November 19th at 142 June Place in Brookville, starting at 10am. Please keep in mind that this is something he is doing out of the goodness of his heart. All Dave asks is that parents bring the kids that will be receiving the bikes, and that nobody comes to get one if they are just going to resell it.

Dave is always accepting donations and volunteer help. If you would like to help out, just send him a message on his Facebook page.
