Apple Forced to Replace iPhone Lightning Port With USB-C – ‘We Have No Choice’
It may become easier to share phone chargers in a mixed iPhone and Android household soon; Apple has commented that a USB-C iPhone will be coming for the 2024 model year.
“We have no choice,” spoke Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, to Wall Street Journal on Tuesday. Apple will “comply with local laws,” in reference to a new European Union law which requires every new smartphone, regardless of manufacturer, to share a common charging cable by 2024.
No official confirmation yet if this change will affect solely European Union-sold phones or become a worldwide change for Apple.
